So what can we do?
Many actions are already underway to stop the corruption and to take back our cooperative. But we cant do it alone… WE NEED YOU!!
Talk to people. The main issue that has allowed this to happen is folks don’t pay attention, and why would they? The LPEA has been charged with providing cheap, reliable power to its members, so that means those should be the primary goals of the directors… if only… Tell your friends and neighbors what is happening.
Speak up. The board of directors claim they have member support for their actions. Why? They sent out a survey before they voted on the buyout and got 32 responses… you read that right. We need people who are concerned about rising rates, transparency and financial stability to attend board meeting and let their voices be heard.
Support. We have several things currently in the works: quality candidates, by-law changes, petitions and possible lawsuits. We need the support of members to make this fight happen, financial and otherwise.
Volunteer. In this most crucial election, we need people to help knock on doors, gather signatures, and to attend board meetings. We cant do this alone, but we are going to bring about change, and the fight is worth it!
Why Change Now?
The clock’s ticking. Tri-State’s CEO says we can back out until April 2026. But the real deadline is May 20, 2025—when ballots for all four LPEA board seats are due. Electing new leaders—Dusty Mars (District 1), Brad Blake (District 2), Dave Peters (District 3), and Lyle McKnight (District 4)—can halt this risky move, restore transparency, and keep power affordable.
- Ballots arrive April 21, 2025—return yours ASAP. Every meter gets a vote. Businesses, renters, homeowners—your voice counts.
- It’s not green, it’s greed. Wall Street wins while we lose.
- Act now, or pay later. Higher rates and lost control are on the horizon unless we fight back.
